About Shanghai

Shanghai, with over 20 million inhabitants, is the largest city in China and one of the largest metropolitan areas of the globe. Located on the central eastern coast of China at the mouth of the Yangtze River, the city is a popular tourist destination and an important commercial and financial center.

Shanghai is divided into two sections: Pudong (The new part) and Pu Xi. Along the Huang Pu River, which divides the city, you can see the past and the future. Situated on the East Side, the Bund is the symbol of Shanghai. Majestic buildings in European style dating back to 1930s share the riverside with the modern constructions of the New Shanghai. At night the Bund is lighted up creating a pleasant atmosphere with people strolling along the wide riverside promenade.

Other attractions in Shanghai include the most important commercial street in China: Nanjing Road; the largest historic park in the city: Yuyuan Garden; and the famous Buddhist shrine: Jade Buddha Temple.
